Welcome to the vision for a Connected City

Centro and Birmingham City Council are laying the foundations for the future of Birmingham – a vibrant and liveable global city. Our vision is based on a well connected, efficient and walkable city.

By improving access to and across the city centre, our aim is to make it easier for pedestrians, public transport users and cyclists.

The Connected City Projects can be found in projects tab of this website

The road changes in the city centre interchange project are now in place with only a few totems and shelters still to be installed to complete this project. If you would like to download a PDF with more details about the road changes which have taken place to help bring Midland Metro through the city centre to New Street Station please click here.

Information on buses which will call at more than one Interchange making travel around the city easier is available here

Work on moving the utilites (water, gas, electric, phone cables) from under the tram route are well underway. Work will start on building the tram route in  April.
